Laura exemplifies the attributes of a true leader. Although fairly new in her position, Laura has already implemented changes in the daily IRC process, benefiting both patients and staff. One of her roles is to help develop and track opportunities for unit development and improvement. Her ideas have been solid and well thought out, and she will always ask for staff input as well. Laura has the patience of a saint and the skills of a ninja. Just when you think you're going to drown in a difficult case, Laura somehow senses your dilemma and with the most calm I've ever seen in any nurse and will come to your rescue. Because she is so likable, Laura has effortlessly developed a comradery with our sister units. This relationship is invaluable in times of patient overflow, where alternate plans are necessary for quality patient care. As a nurse, Laura is always focused, communicative and comforting. Somehow, even in the tensest of times, she never loses her cool. Her ability to stay calm transfers to the rest of the department, staff and patients alike. Laura is decisive and involved, always approachable. She is a true patient advocate, a dedicated mentor, and an insightful educator. All of us here in IRC agree that any day Laura is here will be as good as a day can get.
