Kristie got pulled to PCU, a floor she does not normally work on. It was a very busy day with many complex patients. She had a patient who had trouble staying in bed; at one point, the patient was moved closer to the nurse's station and the sitter was removed. The patient continued to set off his bed alarm and would not stay in bed. It had been a while since his bed alarm had gone off; as I walked past the room, I noticed Kristie had pulled up a chair closer to the patient. They were sitting there talking. Their conversation included the time the patient spent in the Army. This obviously occupied the patient and calmed him immediately. It is always amazing to see an RN be able to sit and talk with a patient, especially about non-medical stuff and particularly on such a busy day!!

Kristie took care of a very trying patient the past couple of days on 2 west. This patient was a physician in the past and she made sure she let you know that through her demeaning behavior. The patient was struggling with multiple mental health issues. At all times, Kristie remained calm, compassionate, and considerate. She knew something was "off" with this patient in how she was acting. She repeatedly corresponded with the MD, the Nursing Home, and the discharge planner. After countless hours, the patient was re-evaluated. Kristie's excellent composure was consistently maintained. Kristie is always compassionate and truly gives 110% to all of her patients. Kristie is a wonderful nurse and a great team member of our nursing staff!
