Kristie Martinez brings a smile and compassion whenever she enters her patient's room. She has that "touch" with patients that makes them feel they are family. She shares this with her staff members and mentors new staff on the importance of the "personal touch". As a night shift RN, in a busy LD unit she always assists the Charge RN by acting as a team player. We are very proud of her in receiving this award as she is most deserving.

Kristie has been an awesome addition to our night shift. She always has a positive spirit about her. Kristie brings with her an amazing wealth of knowledge and is a great teacher. She loves to share her experiences and skills to help educate her coworkers that help us all be better at what we do for our patients. The care that Kristie provides her patients and families is filled with compassion and kindness. She is the kind of nurse you would trust to take care of your own family. Kristie's presence truly makes a difference on our unit and her kindness never seems to stop. We are so proud to have her as a part of our team.

I had the opportunity to care for a critically ill Post-Op patient with Kristie for essentially an entire shift. Her assessment skills were on par with or better than many physicians. Her integrative clinical skills and understanding of the patient's vital signs, urine output, tissue perfusion, vaginal bleeding and mental status allowed her to assist me greatly in caring for this patient in an above average manner. She was also very kind and thoughtful to the patient and her husband. Her caring manner helped me and she reinforced the explanations and assurance I was providing the patient and her husband. She was so nice and was performing exceptionally in spite of knowing her husband was at home with the kids. He was recovering from serious burns suffered in a recent explosion. She was never flustered or stressed out. Kristie is one of the most outstanding and exceptional nurses I've worked with over the last 35-40 years of clinical care. Nominated by Dr. Terry Simon
