Kristi was there for me the whole time dealing with the therapy and getting me back on my feet
Dr. Kristi Sundin has been my primary care provider since my transition out of the USMC in 2014. My transition was not easy by any means and I still struggle with my injuries but she made positive changes in my healthcare. She is the only reason I am here today with a career at the VA. I had a simple surgery that turned for the worse and I needed 6 months of occupational therapy to recover from the surgery. Kristi was there for me the whole time dealing with the therapy and getting me back on my feet so that I could start my academic career in 2019. At first, it was challenging to take notes and articulate the information because of a traumatic brain injury and still having issues with my arms. With her help, I was able to sign up for accommodations through the university and I got two more surgeries to help manage my injuries. Her dedication to my healthcare allowed me to hold my newborn son and daughter. I had major anxiety standing and holding my children because I didn’t want to drop them. Simple tasks of doing the dishes were hard on my hands and arms but now I can support my wife in raising our children. Her passion for the healing and care of Veterans should be the foundation other providers strive to achieve.
