I knew that I could always count on Kristen to make time for me to listen as I ran things by her or even help me come up with a plan to execute all my tasks in a timely manner even when she had her own patient load.
This has been a long time coming, but I would like to recognize Kristen Nguyen for being such a dedicated preceptor and nurse. I had the privilege of having Kristen as one of my preceptors as a new grad and she always exuded patience when breaking down complex concepts into digestible parts, helping me prioritize my time and letting me be independent while still providing guidance whenever I needed it.

What I admire the most about Kristen is how knowledgeable she is, she is able to think 5 steps ahead, anticipate complications, and figure out solutions before any problems arise so that our patients only receive outstanding quality care on our floor. Being a new grad in the middle of a pandemic is hard but Kristen always believed in me and empowered me to become the best nurse that I could be. I felt so lucky to be able to work the majority of my shifts with Kristen as I transitioned to being on my own. Whenever I felt stuck and overwhelmed, I knew that I could always count on Kristen to make time for me to listen as I ran things by her or even help me come up with a plan to execute all my tasks in a timely manner even when she had her own patient load.

Every time Kristen was charge of TL, I always felt immensely supported and safe because she would always check on me and the rest of the unit to make sure our assignments were appropriate and that we were doing okay throughout the shifts. If any problems did come up, she was always there helping us figure out solutions and advocate for us. Again, I feel super grateful to have been able to learn from such a strong nurse with so much knowledge and PCU 400 is lucky to have her!
