From the first time we met Kristen in labor and delivery, she displayed warmth, compassion, and exemplary customer service.
In 2019, my wife and I visited Virginia Hospital Center under emergency conditions. We were 22 weeks and experiencing pre-labor symptoms. We were immediately admitted and advised to remain in the hospital until delivery. Unfortunately, we had our first son at 23 weeks; he was taken to the NICU and he eventually passed two days after birth from complications. As a family, we experienced a lot of grief and sorrow. Despite the loss of our first son, we worked with the amazing, friendly, professional staff at the Virginia Hospital Center.
One of the staff who I must thank and commend is Kristen Coffey. From the first time we met Kristen in labor and delivery, she displayed warmth, compassion, and exemplary customer service. Kristen would often arrive early to work and check on us, send messages through other staff, and provide a daily overview of RN activities. We learned about Kristen and her family and simply bonded with a great person. After the loss of our first son, my wife and I made a commitment to try to have another child. God blessed us and we were able to carry our son all the way to 37 weeks. When deciding on a hospital to deliver our child, we chose the Virginia Hospital Center largely because of Kristen. I notified Kristen on social media and she decided to come in on her day off to help deliver our new baby boy. Kristen Coffey is a Godsend and we are forever thankful for our new family friend.
Note: This is Kristen's 2nd DAISY Award!
