I am one of the volunteers on the No One Dies Alone team at SSM St. Mary's.
I'm writing to let you know that last night I witnessed the exceptional care one of your RNs gave to the patient with whom I was sitting.
I am a retired RN myself and have cared for several patients over the years who were nearing death, so I know the challenges of this type of nursing.
As I watched her do his cares and check on his comfort, I was impressed with her obvious nursing and assessment skills, but even more impressed with her tenderness and caring attitude. She is someone I would want to be taking care of my loved ones in similar circumstances. She also dealt with my presence with grace and a collegial attitude.
I think she is an excellent example of Presence and caring.
