Nurse Keri McCreary was Mom's "singing angel." Mom was in CCU for several days and her health was steadily getting worse. One night when the nurses were getting Mom ready for bed (mind you she was in and out of it) Keri asked if she could sing a song to help soothe her to sleep. She said it was a song she sings to her baby at night. I said "please" since Mom was restless most of the day.
When Keri started singing, she sounded like a nightingale, immediately calming Mom. As Keri was ending the song, Mom was singing along with her. I had never heard of the song, (His eye is on the sparrow), but Mom knew it. Wow! She eventually fell asleep.
As the days went by, Mom was moved from the CCU to Hospice. That night we were blessed to have Keri with us. By this time, Mom was pretty well out of it due to the morphine controlling her pain. I asked Keri if she could sing one last time for us. She said she would sing for Mom! She leaned over her and sang so beautifully to her and I believe I could hear Mom humming along with her!
I believe Nurse Keri McCreary went over and beyond her call of duty and helped make Mom's last days more comforting!
