Kelly often compliments me on my positive attitude, but I honestly attribute it to the fact that she is only a phone call away, and that I feel so safe and well cared for.
I was diagnosed with breast cancer, and from that very first day, Kelly was with me every step of the way. She must have known that at the end of that first diagnosis appointment, I would be totally overwhelmed, and I wouldn't take anything in. She gave me the routine pack of leaflets and information, but she made sure I knew that her direct number was at the very front. She regularly contacted me when she didn't need to check on me, and she always asked if there was extra help or information that I needed. I have signed up to a few support groups online, but I have never needed to contact them. Kelly is my "go-to" person and I never have to deal with anyone else. Not only does she answer any questions I have, but she also always has a bit of extra information.

I recently called Kelly to discuss some chemo side effects and she checked if I knew that I could have my Covid vaccinations 4 weeks apart. She promptly put me in touch with the relevant person. How reassuring was that?! She has offered help on side effects and hair loss well before I needed it, in order for me to be prepared and take control of myself. I was empowered to shave my head and buy a wig before the agony of days and days of hair loss slowly took over me. It was a doddle as I was in control! I do appreciate nurses don't go into the profession unless they are prepared to go the extra mile, but Kelly is exceptional. She always communicates in an honest and transparent way, but it is always at my pace and never hurried.

Whenever I put the phone down I feel better than before I called. Just knowing Kelly is only a phone call away has improved my whole experience. Kelly often compliments me on my positive attitude, but I honestly attribute it to the fact that she is only a phone call away, and that I feel so safe and well cared for. She is not only brilliant at her job, but also an exceptional young woman that lights the room up. I feel very fortunate to have been allocated to her.
