I always knew that with Keisha, Mom was in good hands.
My mother required emergency surgery for a twisted bowel in November 2021. While being extubated after surgery, she went into respiratory arrest and was placed on a ventilator in ICU. She remained in ICU for two weeks following the surgery with several medical setbacks. While Mom had excellent care from the doctors, nurses, and therapists; one nurse stood out above all others.

Keisha was the night nurse who cared for my Mom immediately after surgery and admission to the ICU. She was exceptionally caring and positive as she cared for my mom (and for my family). She took time to explain everything she was doing at every step. It was evident that she loves her job and that nursing is her calling. Keisha took my calls at 11 pm and 5 am every day taking time to explain the lab results, medications, fluids, and heart and respiratory monitoring. Mom was in septic shock following her surgery and she took the time to explain which way the numbers needed to go for improvement. Never once did I feel like I was bothering her with my calls or numerous questions. She eagerly and pleasantly answered all my questions and took the time to reassure me.

I always knew that with Keisha, Mom was in good hands. What happened a few days later confirmed it. Even though Keisha was not assigned to care for Mom, she took time to stop by the room to check on her. She sat with Dad, holding his hand to provide comfort. She gave encouraging words to him and our family during such a traumatic time.
