Karen made a significant difference in my employee/patient care experience. One day I went to work feeling normal, but that soon changed, around 9am. I was going about my daily work schedule of picking up medical records when I began to feel the left side of my face numb and tingling. I went back to my department and explained to my manager that I was not feeling well. She took one look at me and stated that I should go to the ER. I explained to her that I did not want to go to ER because I did not want to pay the insurance deductible or co-pay. At the time my manager suggested I at least go to employee health to be looked at.
While on my way to employee health, I was in the Women's Center hallway, when I ran into a nurse (Karen Quick) whose name I did not know at the time. I asked Karen for directions to employee health, and that is when Karen stated that I needed to go directly to the ER because of facial drooping. Being the stubborn person that I am, I again said that I didn't need to go to the ER. Karen stated that her gut feeling was that I was experiencing a stroke and needed to get to the ER. Karen offered to walk with me to the ER.
She was very gentle and caring and assisted me to the ER while supporting my arm and helping me as I registered. I want to say thank you to Karen for the outstanding care and work that she gave to me.
I would also like to thank all the nurses, they all provided me with such excellent care and provided me with an exceptional patient experience while being on the other side of the fence and being a patient here at Del E Webb.
