Karen Kibler received her DAISY Award in December 2014 while suffering from a terminal illness. This was her nomination written by Nursing Administration:

Karen has been with St. Francis Medical Center since shortly after the first year it was opened in 2005. She has worked as the Nursing Supervisor on the night shift, directing and supporting hospital operations and patient care. Karen's positive and bubbly attitude toward problem solving always puts the staff at ease. She created miracles when resources were scarce and always worked to keep patients, nurses and physicians happy.

Karen has contributed to the advancement of patient care practices by being the Performance Improvement project rep on the off shifts, collected data and provided ongoing education for staff when necessary, as well as, being a Gallup Champion. During her retirement she continued to work full-time to support her team members and assist in training new supervisors.

Karen's ability to manage problems was always very much appreciated by the Administrators who received event notifications and solutions from Karen throughout the night. She is a true leader, an exceptional nurse and a dear friend.

Sadly, Karen Kibler passed away today, January 13, 2015.
