There are so many things I love about Kaitlyn but what I love most is how she truly cares about the patient.
This experience isn't anything I could expect. To say this process has been difficult would be an understatement. As a brief summary, I had an emergency c-section and we were given grim hope just about every step of the way. Kaitlyn has turned what was easily a traumatic lingering nightmare into something actually kind of beautiful. I’ve been able to be a first-hand witness to a miracle. My first memory of Kaitlyn is appreciating how long she stayed during care time and making sure my daughter was comfortable and snug. She was perfectly tucked up, so they were comfortable and at peace that they fell asleep instantly, every time. I never had to hit the call bell and Kaitlyn was in the room ready to see what was wrong. And what I have been most appreciative and emotional about is how well they take care of the patient. She will try everything before bumping up the oxygen and calling it a day. Just about every time, she found out why the patient was uncomfortable or angry and made them comfortable again.

There are so many things I love about Kaitlyn but what I love most is how she truly cares about the patient. She just doesn’t think of the patient the one day they are working, she will look at the patient’s week even if they are off the next day. I have had nurses tell me that Kaitlyn asks about how my daughter was doing on their day off. That meant everything to me. The fact that she was thinking about my daughter on their day off and cared enough to check in...is something I have never had the privilege of seeing in a nurse.

Kaitlyn celebrates our triumphs and makes them into joyous milestones instead of just normal hospital procedures. The NICU is there, but Kaitlyn helped me heal too. She has made me comfortable leaving knowing the patient is in great hands. That is the most difficult part-leaving each day and having my mind racing with “what ifs”. When we have Kaitlyn as our nurse, I don’t worry and that has made all the difference.
