I just wanted to take a minute to write to you to recognize one of your nurses. I was scheduled to have surgery, however, due to unfortunate circumstances, the generators failed, and I needed to be rescheduled. I wanted to find a way to do this as a patient, not an employee, but it was a challenge to figure out how to get the thank you to the right person. This whole process for me has been a lot to take in. I am 40 having a bilateral mastectomy. I was called in by the doctor to see me between procedures to draw me for my surgery scheduled the next day. The doctor stopped a random nurse walking by and asked her to assist me with a few things. It was clear that she had other tasks she was in the middle of, however, she stopped, smiled and agreed. She greeted me with a big smile, introduced herself and assisted me with all my needs. This was when I first met Juliana. When I was leaving the unit, she even stopped to wish me well. It was heartwarming. When I arrived in the morning, the day of my surgery, I was full of fear.
To my surprise, Juliana Wildey, RN would be my nurse for the prep period. She was truly wonderful. She was always smiling, despite being short-staffed and the chaos of the generators going down. She informed me of everything that was happening, going to happen, then what didn't happen. I was fully at ease and ready for what was about to happen to me. I was ready, mostly because of her. She made the process fun, as odd as that sounds. She made me laugh and made the best of what was happening. She showed true compassion for someone she had only met once. She has an exceptional bedside manner and even had my husband smiling! When we had been notified that everything had to be rescheduled, she even took the time to come in and give me a hug goodbye. She is a true asset to your department; I am very grateful to have had her care that day and I can only be as hopeful to have her on my upcoming surgery. Please let her know that she is amazing and inspiring! Some nurses just really stand out and she is one of them!
