Judy's gentle touch, the caring way she listens, and shows love with every glance make you feel like you are with family.
Judy Schoun is the most impressive and amazing nurse I've ever known! She continuously goes above and beyond for every patient that walks through the doors of Greene Memorial. I've watched her bend over backward to organize a patient's care to the highest level of expectations, develop emotional connections with patients and their family members, and I've watched her pray over her patients to bring them comfort and spiritual strength.

Recently, I was able to experience what all these patients have been getting for over 40 years. I had to have a biopsy. I was incredibly nervous and petrified that it was going to be the worst imaginable news.  I was drained emotionally and physically the day I had to schedule it. That same day I talked with Judy. From the moment I heard the care in her voice, I knew I was going to have the best experience and the perfect care! Her gentle touch, the caring way she listens, and shows love with every glance make you feel like you are with family. Judy talked me through the entire procedure. Blessedly, where I was previously horrified.... in her presence I wasn't afraid at all.  I felt calm and safe before, during, and after the procedure.  I can never thank her enough for getting me through that. I remember noticing the picture on the wall as she applied the ice packs. It was a depiction of a nurse tirelessly caring over a patient. You could actually see in her expression true selflessness and concern for this other human being. The scene depicted was quite spiritually emotional for me, as I felt right then that I had just been in the presence of an angel. Judy Schoun represents and embodies everything I ever believed a nurse could be.  Forever blessed by your care!

Just last week I called Nurse Judy to come to help me with an MRI patient. The patient was having a hard time laying on my table and I couldn’t seem to get her calm enough to get the scan done. Judy came over and spoke to her and was able to calm her down enough to try again. Just a few minutes later the patient began yelling again to get out of the scanner because she was still in too much pain. Judy went into the room and talked the patient into laying on her side since this was a position she said she was more comfortable in. We started scanning again, and again the patient was unable to lay long enough to get any pictures. This time when we went in the room I assumed we would be getting the patient up and would have to reschedule for another day. However, Judy didn’t give up on the patient and was finally able to get her in a comfortable position and get the scan completed. Because this patient was a cancer patient and she had her follow up appointment with her oncology doctor the next day, this was such a huge victory! Thank you, Nurse Judy
