On October 14, 2011, the Cincinnati Galen College of Nursing presented the DAISY award for outstanding nursing faculty to Ms. Judith Rudokas. Ms. Rudokas has been with the Cincinnati campus since July, 2009 and has taught Concepts of Advanced Medical-Surgical Nursing, in the classroom as well as in clinical. Judy?s nomination came not from the staff or management of Galen but by the Galen students themselves. Students wrote examples of excellence such as: ?This instructor was a breath of fresh air. She was able to break down material and concepts in a way that I could understand. Her natural curiosity and interest in learning new things herself was such as inspiration for me.? ?I?ve had the pleasure of learning from Ms. Rudokas in the clinical setting twice and once in the classroom. From the time I?ve spent with her it has become apparent that she is wholly dedicated to student success and learning.? ?My clinical experience with Ms. Rudokas was exceptional and for the first time in my nursing school career, I felt like I was becoming a real nurse. She keeps you on your toes, but is kind hearted and make you feel totally at ease. We learned by watching her interactions with patients and with staff. There is more to nursing than textbook knowledge and she is a fine example of a multi-dimensional nurse.? It was my pleasure on behalf of The Galen College of Nursing and The DAISY Foundation to have presented the DAISY Faculty Award to this outstanding faculty member
