Josie never rushed my dad at all through this; she just provided comfort, reassurance, empathy, and patience, which was exactly what my dad needed at that time.
My Dad was hospitalized for the first time in their life, and it had been an extremely scary and traumatizing experience. My Dad was expressing a lot of fear and anxiety. Their main fear was that the devil was after them. Josie took time out of her night to sit with my dad and hold their hand and pray with us.

When my dad expressed that they didn’t remember all the words to the prayer, Josie prayed with me for my dad. When I saw that my dad might still need a little bit more reassurance, I asked if it might be possible to take my dad down to the sanctuary to pray there. Josie agreed to take us down there and helped me say prayers with and for my dad. While we were there, Josie asked my dad if they had any favorite scriptures from the bible and when my dad said, “I don’t know” or “I can’t remember”, Josie looked up her favorite verse and read it to my dad. She then looked up on her phone for bible verses that might provide comfort to my dad to help them overcome their fears.

Josie never rushed my dad at all through this; she just provided comfort, reassurance, empathy, and patience, which was exactly what my dad needed at that time.

As a fellow nurse, I was in awe of the compassion that Josie shared with both of us, and I want her to know how deeply I appreciated her actions. She is truly an amazing and exceptional nurse, and I feel honored to be able to work with her.
