Florence Nightingale once said, "I think one's feelings waste themselves in words; they ought to be distilled into actions which bring results." Josh lives out this quote every day and every shift while at the bedside. Often times, family members and patients compliment him on his "caring behavior." Working in the NICU has its challenges and adversities. It takes a special person to be able to exude care, patience, and understanding on a daily basis. As the director of critical care, I have received many compliments. One that sticks out the most to me would be from a card I received from the family member of a patient who unfortunately passed away at our hospital. The mother of this patient stated, "Josh was so caring and patient. He answered all of our questions. It was easy to see how he genuinely cared for us. Even though I lost my son, if ever there was a "perfect" person for this job, it was him. He allowed my son to pass with dignity and helped us grieve." Josh is a blessing to have in the NICU. I believe God placed the "perfect person" in the "perfect place" when he transitioned to NICU.
