I was called by J and J to come to talk to them because they really wanted me to know how they felt about Jordan and the role she played. They had come into our triage for decreased fetal movement. Jordan did the required monitoring and notified the provider. As Jordan was getting the patient ready for discharge, she continued to look at the fetal monitor and her nursing instincts kicked in. She just didn't feel "right". Jordan then called the provider and asked for another test (biophysical profile) to be run. This test was done, and the decision was made to admit the patient and work towards delivery. The baby did not tolerate labor and then they had to do a STAT c-birth because of fetal distress.
The family believes strongly that if Jordan did not follow her "gut" and ask for further testing that their baby would not be here today. The family sent Jordan flowers and a note.
