He continuously upholds the highest standards in his practice. He is innovative and led the unit in creating a new approach to practice to prevent pressure injuries to our most compromised patients.
Johnchristopher or Cristof for short, is one of the many nurses on our unit deserving of the DAISY Award for the following reasons. Cristof always excelled in performing his duties towards the patients and his co-workers. He continuously upholds the highest standards in his practice. He is innovative and led the unit in creating a new approach to practice to prevent pressure injuries to our most compromised patients. He proposed his idea for the cue-driven repositioning initiative or CDR to the unit and showed the other unit staff the workflow, criteria, and equipment. The new practice was launched in the department and was widely embraced by the team. This initiative improved staff awareness in preventing pressure injuries. The outcome was favorable to our patient population. No reportable HAPIs developed ever since the CDR was implemented. He made several presentations on this initiative to the interdisciplinary team and presented a poster during research day in the last nurses' week.

Cristof is actively involved in the hospital SSKIN committee. He is an excellent patient advocate. He will not hesitate to contact other disciplines to meet the patient's needs. For example, he asked Recreation Therapy if they could do aromatherapy with one of his patients, who was very anxious. He showed cohesiveness among unit staff by organizing fun activities during the holiday season, such as raffle drawing, table games, secret Santa, etc. It was so much fun; even our physicians will join the fun and still maintain and observe the COVID prevention protocols.

Cristof is one of a kind. He truly embodies the "Nurse with a Heart."
