Jo is special because she epitomizes what it means to be a leader. She always puts her patients and her nurses first and is always willing to help anyone at any time.
Jo is a caring nurse who pays attention to the little details. When I first started, I was hesitant with asking for help. I would mainly keep to myself, but Jo would always try to be funny to get me to come out of my shell. One day, I had a really bad run but did not mention it. Jo noticed I was more quiet than usual and kept offering to help. Jo helped to console me and helped with various tasks. After that day, I knew that if I ever had Jo as my console nurse, I would have a good day. Even if I have a bad run! Jo is a funny, knowledgeable and reliable person.

Jo is a strong asset to IMC. She is very knowledgeable regarding skills and is always willing to help out her team members to complete any procedure. I had a patient who needed an NG tube and asked her to help as the patient was confused and I needed an extra pair of hands. I have put in several NG tubes over my time as a nurse, but was very impressed when Jo said “give me the tube”, and in less than 2 seconds the tube was in place. She is a wonderful team member that keeps the unit running smoothly while her smile and jokes keep us all sane.

Jo is special because she epitomizes what it means to be a leader. She always puts her patients and her nurses first and is always willing to help anyone at any time. Recently I was promoted from the floor to clinical supervisor and Jo went above and beyond her role as clinical supervisor and completely changed her schedule to the weekends so that I could take her schedule in order to be home with my kids. I will never forget this selfless act of love. We love our “mama bear” Jo.
