This rare flower in the garden of life deserves this Award.
In the garden of life, if you look, you will find a treasure -- a rare flower -- that's Jill! From the moment I met with nurse Jill, I knew I was given an angel to help guide me through the pre-transplant process. Her communications with me were clear, responsive, and very informative. I had a comfort level of knowing she was my life link to the transplant team. Always positive, always exhibiting a feeling of calm and straight talk, she was the conduit readily available to keep me informed while I patiently waited for over a year for a donor opportunity. Her positive nature was always reassuring. She repeatedly told me how much she loved her work at the Mayo Clinic and always spoke so highly of the team. When I finally did get the call to relocate to Arizona for several months, Jill made the call, and I flew out immediately by myself with a few belongings and a suitcase full of hope for a new liver. When I arrived, Jill arranged, on her own free time, to take me to the market to get some provisions and whatever I would need to get set up for an extended stay. Jill brought me an ice chest she had at home for some cold storage for perishables. She visited me three or four times on her own time. Jill brought me lunch when I didn't even ask. Yesterday I had a post-op appointment to have my staples removed. Jill showed up and held my hand to comfort me -- it was probably during her lunchtime. Jill is the perfect ambassador for the Mayo Clinic -- a phenomenal and dedicated nurse -- and all the goodness and kindness of gracious and caring bedside manner. This rare flower in the garden of life deserves this Award. She is an angel that helped me through this. Thank you, Jill. Your devotion to your work and the patients you care for should be acknowledged -- you are a standout!
