Jessica provides a psychological safety space so frontline staff can confide in her about what is happening at the bedside because they trust her.
Jessica is usually known for Patient Care Service Orientation (PCSO). So far, in 2023, she has oriented ~200 nurses. She is a nurse leader who lets others shine while she provides great support in the background. All new nurses, nurse residents (new graduates), and travelers meet Jessica first as they go through orientation. She has built trusting relationships with them and makes sure that they are safe to practice when they’re deployed to the nursing units. She consistently rounds on the units to check in with staff for any clinical practice questions. Jessica provides a psychological safety space so frontline staff can confide in her about what is happening at the bedside because they trust her. They know she will help however she can.

What most people do not know is the positive impact Jessica makes on the bedside nurses and for the KP, especially KP SSF, with her work. She has been intricately involved with Regional project rollouts such as the exchange from Alaris to BBraun IV pumps, KP HealthConnect major updates, Vocera implementation, and assisting Region with contingency workers for potential and actual work stoppages, to name a few. She has recently been a part of the planning and training during the recent work stoppage. Jessica is one of the nursing leaders who is also part of the Nursing Unit Council through its iterations. The impact of her hard work “behind the scenes” is that she trained and cared for the frontline nurses so they could take care of our patients.
