My Dad was working in the garden all day. By evening, he was in the ER and then to the ICU on life support. He would spend the next three weeks in the ICU, a very sick man. I believe our lives will forever be changed by this experience. Those of us at his bedside witnessed an excellent team of physicians and nurses work around the clock to keep him alive and then work him back to health. Dad got a second chance on life because of the excellent care he received.
Your entire staff was extraordinary, but our family, especially Dad, will say one nurse touched all of us beyond the technical skills of her training. Jenny was our educator, our pillar of strength when we were falling into the direction of despair; our leader and adviser in this whole chapter of unknowns. She was Dad's advocate. Dad's face would light up when he saw her. This was his only form of communication being on a ventilator and unable to speak. She made him smile and was able to decrease his level of anxiety (and ours) with comforting words and explanations along the way. She treated him as if he was her dad and us as family. We will all be forever grateful for Jenny and your entire ICU team. Thank you!
