I am a nursing student at Loma Linda University.I had to take a leave of absence after being diagnosed withStage 4 Metastatic Breast Cancer. When I came to the Medical Surgical Unit, I encountered Jennifer. Even with my bad attitude, she greeted me with a smile on her face. Jennifer listened to me took my vitals and allowed me to rant and rave.I thought she wasn't listening but when I finally closed my big mouth she again apologized and said she understood, and asked me if I would give her a chance to help me.I wasn't prepared for a smile and a calm, caring voice and demeanor. Jennifer is a greatnurse! She always kept her word and when she said she was coming back, she came back, and she always checked to see how my pain was. Every time, it was time to give me my meds she told me everything she was giving me.The nurse is supposed to be the patient's advocate and I felt Jennifer being my advocate; she fought with and for me.

Jennifer has worked with us a little more than a year. She is very friendly and understanding of her patients and co-workers. No matter what situation she is facing, she always has a smile on her face. She often helps her co-workers with their patients and is willing to assume other duties. Jennifer often comes to me with questions that will improve unit operations so we can better serve our customers. She is also a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in our customer service training program. I can surely say Jennifer is always running with a smile.
Congratulations Jennifer on receiving the DAISY Award! We are all very proud of you!
