When a patient who was discharged from the hospital and was to be treated in Radiation Oncology abruptly cancelled her appointment, Jennifer followed-up with a phone call to the patient. The patient was home alone, required follow-up home care, transportation and was upset and frightened. Jenny made numerous phone calls to clear up the miscommunication regarding the patients care, all the while remaining in close contact with the patient, offering continuous support and compassion.
In Oncology, each and every day, I witness heath care workers extending compassionate care. On this day, Jenny went above and beyond our departments already high standards of care and displayed the true sense of spirituality as this patients advocate.
