I was so impressed with J.B.'s ability to balance the clinical needs of the unit with the compassion he showed for us.
J.B. is an exceptional nurse and compassionate caregiver. My dad was admitted to the SICU following an ischemic stroke and spent 5 days there before transferring to Med/Surg/Tele. With an underlying diagnosis of Alzheimer's, he is not a "typical" patient or an easy patient. And with my sister and I both in town from California to be a support to my mom and dad, we are not an "easy" or "typical" family. We, as a family, want to recognize J.B. for his experience in clinical care, but even more so for taking such great care of us as a family. From Day 1, he understood how close we are as a family and how much my sister and I love our dad. He allowed us to spend time together and checked in on all of us frequently. There was no question too small for us to ask and nothing he wouldn't do to make my dad comfortable. I was so impressed with his ability to balance the clinical needs of the unit with the compassion he showed for us. It truly takes a special kind of nurse to go above and beyond in this way. We are so grateful. J.B. is a true DAISY Nurse.
