She was just a very conscientious worker, and the kindness she showed me was greatly appreciated. She went above and beyond what was expected without expecting any special thanks.
I was very anxious about getting back surgery as I had a very traumatic 44 day long hospitalization last year at an entirely different hospital for totally unrelated conditions last year. Unfortunately, what was to be outpatient surgery turned into a short stay in the hospital. I was in terrible pain after this surgery, which I had not anticipated at all and as a result, along with some other post op complications, I was admitted to the hospital. The pain was far too much for me to handle and doing the things I needed to do in order to recover was quite difficult and I really couldn’t do these physical therapy type things like walking without being a sobbing mess. I also had other minor issues like an IV that caused pain whenever anything was run through it and was very sore to the touch, but that was something I could easily endure. By my third night, I was really having a hard time and felt my pain was far from being controlled. Fortunately for me, my nurse that night was Jasmine. She saw how much distress I was in and I felt that rather than judge me for not being able to just “get through it,” she actually listened to me and trusted that my input was accurate. She made sure I had my pain relief medications on time and not only that but she inquired about other issues she had noticed. When I told her about my IV she said that it needed to be changed and then she came back in a timely manner and actually did it. It was a huge difference and I had no pain whatsoever when I received anything else through my IV. I’m also diabetic and recently was prescribed a continuous glucose monitor, which is placed on the back of my arm where I normally don’t see it. I removed it a couple of days before and could feel several areas that were previously covered by the sticky protective film that had become irritated to the point of leaving open gashes that were weepy and very sore. She provided treatment that helped with those wounds considerably. She was just a very conscientious worker, and the kindness she showed me was greatly appreciated. She went above and beyond what was expected without expecting any special thanks. I hope that her work is recognized by her colleagues and supervisors. The fact that she took the time to ask about and address my concerns and that she showed me a great deal of empathy is what I found most helpful…the treatment and kindness I received from Jasmine got me to a place where I was able to get a couple hours of much needed sleep. I was discharged the next day and only had one other nurse after Jasmine so I didn’t get the chance to thank her properly and I’m not the type of person who does reviews but I hope that by doing this, Jasmine gets a bit of recognition for a job well-done.
