A short time later, Janine came back to my room and asked me if I would like a mini-tutorial on Troponin. I was astounded and thrilled!
I am writing to tell you of my experience while at Morristown Memorial Center, specifically relating to my encounter with one of your nurses, Janine A. To say it was a great experience would be a tremendous understatement! I have never in all of my hospital stays met a nurse more qualified for recognition. I truly think Janine is beyond extraordinary!

I could probably write pages about why I feel this way, but I would like to give you the example that I think best illustrates my feelings. During my stay, someone (most likely one of the doctors, but honestly, I do not remember) was in my room talking to me and mentioned Troponin. Janine must have come to my room shortly thereafter but stood in the doorway waiting for our conversation to conclude. At the time, I had no idea what Troponin was, but I had other questions that I thought were more pertinent (at the time) and glossed over it so as not to interrupt the conversation. Little did I know how important Troponin is - but Janine knew. More importantly, she knew I didn’t have a clue. It must have been written all over my face - the deer-in-headlights look. A short time later, Janine came back to my room and asked me if I would like a mini-tutorial on Troponin. I was astounded and thrilled! She sat on the chair next to my bed and spent about 5 minutes giving me an explanation of what Troponin is and why it is so important, and then proceeded to tell me what my Troponin results were since coming to the hospital for context. I was elated! Not only was I able to piece together the conversation I had earlier with the doctor, but I now knew my Troponin level was (thankfully) on a downward spiral.

I cannot tell you how much I appreciated Janine taking the time to do what she did, but just as important is the fact that she 'read my face’ and saw that I was clueless, and took the initiative to come back and talk to me to put my mind at ease. That is not only extraordinary - It is exceptional! I could go on and on telling you the little things Janine did for me that she didn’t have to do - things that she could have avoided doing - but suffice to say, there were many. Janine obviously not only takes her job very seriously but does it with pride and dignity. This is obviously who she is, so if she treated me the way she did, I am sure she treats all of her patients the same way. I am hoping that she will be given the recognition that she rightly deserves.
