Janet has a clear vision for clinical changes which need to happen in order for our patients and families to have the highest quality of experience, and she never backs down from the barriers which get in the way.
Janet Sullivan is the nursing manager in Adolescent Medicine. She joined our Division in March of 2019. With her joining us, we have had so many amazing changes! Janet is someone who hits the ground with the front line staff doing the direct clinical work. She hears everyone's concerns and takes those into consideration when implementing changes. She's my partner in leadership! As the medical clinical director in the Division of Adolescent Medicine, Janet and I work side by side daily (and often before/after work hours). She's always positive and encouraging which is so helpful in keeping our morale high during times of stress. She keeps track of every detail and consistently reminds me of tasks that need follow-up.
Janet has been a critical team member with our transition to telemedicine visits in March, transition back to having patients and providers in clinic, and now our EPIC go-live transition. I simply could not have led any of these changes without her leadership, dedication, input, support, and guidance. A true team player and collaborator. Janet embodies all of the core values: collaborator, uniter, innovator, curiosity. She is inclusive and considers equity and diversity as well as the impacts of racism on our patients, providers, and institutional policies. Janet is Outstanding!

Since joining Adolescent Medicine, Janet has shown a dedication to collaborative problem-solving that truly exemplifies our values of collaboration and compassion.
Janet is just as likely to be found in meetings with senior leadership advocating for the clinical needs of our patients as she is to be found at the local donut shop, picking up breakfast in gratitude for our hardworking MAs. Janet has established a reputation in clinic as the person you go to whenever you need a problem solved. I cannot tell you how many longstanding barriers to quality care Janet has tackled in her short time at Ado. And in every challenging situation, Janet manages to identify the key stakeholders and decision-makers who need to be part of the decision-making process.
Janet has a clear vision for clinical changes which need to happen in order for our patients and families to have the highest quality of experience, and she never backs down from the barriers (resource, logistics, or institutional) which get in the way. Oftentimes, strong advocates like Janet can rub people the wrong way or alienate others. But Janet understands perfectly how to balance quality improvement efforts with interpersonal grace and kindness - an impressive combination that wins all of her colleagues and employees to her side.
Every clinic deserves a Janet Sullivan.

Janet is an "all hands on deck" nurse manager. She has a keen eye for quality improvement.
Janet always goes above and beyond for patients and families that need extra support. She is always on the look out for patients who might fall behind in their care or get lost to follow up. Janet cares about the well-being of her team.
She checks in with her staff and when she does she means it and expresses genuine concern and curiosity. When things don't go well or mistakes happen, she owns it and isn't afraid to have hard conversations and get to the bottom of it so it doesn't happen again.
She's the one I go to who can solve many of the problems no one else can. When there is a message from a parent whose child is in crisis, she stops what she is doing to pick up the phone and walk them through the next steps so that adolescent gets the care they need.
Janet manages a million things at once and always without fail keeps equitable, collaborative, excellent patient care as her top priority. Janet is one of the reasons I look forward to coming to work every day.
