I came in to deliver my baby girl. I was trying to give natural birth. I was terrified of the needle. James was my nurse and stayed by my side almost the entire time. He told me the straightforward truth and did not sugarcoat things which are very important. When I was getting ready to finally deliver, I was having some complications. I couldn't handle the pain and my baby's oxygen level was dropping. I was already 10 cm dilated but I could not push and could barely control my breathing.
James did his best to help me breathe but as time went by, I was not cooperating. I am sorry. I begged for the epidural super late; I know James went to talk to the doctors and vouched for me and I was able to get the shot! And oh, my goodness, it went smoothly afterward. Baby's vitals got better; my vitals got better. There were talks of c-section if we went too long. But thanks to him coaching me, being there for me and helping me through this, I had a beautiful healthy baby girl. I am sorry I could not name my baby after him. We joked about that. But honestly, I have never received care like that in my life. I will never forget him, and I wish I could do something to say thank you.
