There was an elderly lady and her daughter sitting at the table across from us eating lunch when something in her bag began to beep. The daughter looked in the bag, it appeared to be her oxygen tank but the daughter seemed a little confused and fussed with it for a minute. Then this nurse over heard the daughter say "Mom, I have to take you back out to the car to get the big tank." This is when Jaime left her lunch and sprang into action. She asked if they needed assistance and the daughter said "I'm not sure but I think it's beeping because the tank is empty." The nurse looked inside the bag and yes, the tank was reading empty. She offered to get the tank from their car so the mother would not have to stop eating her lunch. They accepted the offer and gave her the keys with the description of the car. Moments later, she returned with another tank and connected the mother's tubing to the oxygen tank. They were so thankful but she graciously said it was no problem at all.
This is the type of nurse and person that Jaime is. She gives her all to her family, her profession, and her co-workers. She works part time but when we were short a nurse, she offered to work full time (approximately 6 months) until another nurse was hired. She is very flexible with her schedule, often coming in to cover for vacations, call-ins, and simply helping out wherever needed between our two departments. She is a great nurse to work with and we commend her for her dedication as a nurse and to our department.
