Although wearing a mask, one could even read the compassion in his eyes.
This Thank you is being written as a result of my visit with my 95, almost 96-year-old mom, a patient on 8th floor. She is senile and is recovering from an infection.

During that time, Jake was intensely focused on caring for her and making her feel valued. I feel called to nominate him because in every of the several patient-nurse interactions that I observed, Jake was not only professionally skilled, but he was also compassionate and patient. From his body language in helping her get out of bed, use the toilet, eat and applying lotion to her aching knees, his gentle words, and touches of her hands, it was apparent to me that he was giving of himself to Mom, as a very caring human being. Although wearing a mask, one could even read the compassion in his eyes. As a result, Mom responded and cooperated fully with his requests and suggestions, and it made her peaceful.

Despite being very busy and caring for other patients, Jake took the time to answer all of my questions about her medical care. In addition to the impact it had on my mom, it added to my own peace of mind to know that she was not only being well cared for, but also that she was valued.
