Ife worked tirelessly and gently to remove it and then found a different way to bandage the wounds so that the gauze wouldn’t stick.
My Brother J came into the ED after wrecking his motorcycle. He has a large head laceration with skull exposed, collapsed lung, broken ribs, broken clavicle, broken scapula, broken leg (3 Breaks, and road rash on his head, face, and arms. ALL staff at UNMH have taken excellent care of J and he has sung the praises of UNMH every day. However, in a sea of excellent care, Ife has been GOLD (in J’s words). The attention to detail and extraordinary care that she has taken to clean and dress his wounds has been incredible. When the gauze previously applied by another has adhered to his skin and hair, Ife worked tirelessly and gently to remove it and then found a different way to bandage the wounds so that the gauze wouldn’t stick. When one doctor inadvertently unwrapped one of her coverings to examine a wound, she took the time to redo that covering even though her shift had ended. We are a huge fan of Ife and we hope you realize just how fortunate UNMH is to have her on your staff! We have been blessed by her! When J’s pain spikes, she responds to our call immediately and brings the appropriate pain medications. When a doctor needs to be consulted, she communicates with them and gets needed answerers quickly. She answers our questions patiently and always takes the time to explain what we need to know. Again this evening, she came in after her shift was over as she was leaving to make sure the new nurse knew exactly what was needed for the overnight shift. She is more than deserving of this award. Please Clone her!
