Ian has proven time and time again to be a leader amongst his team.
It takes a very special person to work as an emergency room nurse; there is a unique skill set that requires the practitioner to be able to quickly assess a situation at a moment’s notice. Ian has proven time and time again to be a leader amongst his team. He provides compassionate care during very vulnerable circumstances. When he is in charge, he provides a sense of calm despite whatever chaos may be occurring. He consistently is able to navigate the challenges of the shift and he respectfully collaborates with his care team. These leadership qualities are core to all great nurses but what truly set’s Ian apart is his passion to improve the quality of care for the patients we serve. He identifies opportunities to provide the patient with a better experience and he appropriately escalates issues to leadership in real time.

What is most admirable about Ian is his willingness to be part of the solution. He truly “walks the walk” and he is seen as a leader and mentor by his peers. There is no doubt Ian is a healthcare hero on the front line, providing countless patients lifesaving interventions. His skills, his passion, and his perseverance have truly made a difference in the lives he has touched. He is a vital asset to our ED team.

When my wife and I came into the ER from a car accident by ambulance he was quick to triage us after we were sent to the waiting room due to the influx of emergencies that day. He was very compassionate and caring. Even with it being incredibly busy. Another patient family member was irate about not being seen and Ian was diplomatic and professional in explaining the wait. Ian helped my wife and I feel like we weren't being ignored and he had genuine concern for us. We did not feel like a number. I work at St. Mary's and Ian is helpful whenever he can be. He is very professional. I have heard many of my other co-workers express how much they enjoy working with him. I feel he is a great asset to the St. Mary's ER.
