On my first night after leaving the ER Heather was my nurse. I was very afraid that my heart and breathing condition was very grave and I thought I might not come out of this well. She saw I was worried and confused and she talked and explained things to me in a calm placid manner that got me to calm down. The things that were going on that I didn't understand became clear as she broke everything down so I could get it. She also explained my afflictions to me as she dispensed each medication that had been prescribed and what it was for as well as possible side effects they could have. She erased some stigmas attached to my situation. I was also concerned about my son (22) who was also quite worried, and she spoke to me as a fellow parent which eased a lot of nerves. I began to realize that I was breathing much better and my chest (heart) stopped hurting. My vitals became more normal and I was able to close my eyes without fear of them not opening in the morning and I had a good nights' rest. She gave me comfort and faith that got me on the road to recovery. Unfortunately, she was off on my discharge day so I didn't get to thank her and say good bye. I'm not sure I would've made it without her. I am greatly grateful!!
