Hanninen demonstrated the ability to critically think and prioritize her patient care when determining priority needs and concerns for her patients.
I have had the pleasure of working with Hannine as a junior nursing student in both the clinical and classroom settings. Hannine’s positive energy and willingness to learn are what set her apart from other students. In the classroom, Hannine engages in the learning process by asking appropriate questions and working through group activities. She shows interest in learning the material each and every week. In the clinical setting, Hannine has demonstrated the ability to perform assessments and other skills when caring for pediatric patients.

In addition, she was eager to see and learn new and different things each week. Hanninen demonstrated the ability to critically think and prioritize her patient care when determining priority needs and concerns for her patients. During her Peds clinical rotation, the student demonstrated tremendous compassion and concern for her pediatric patient that was decompensating. This student went above and beyond her assigned task for the day by looking further into the patient’s chart to further investigate the patient’s potential risk for Sepsis which in turn developed at the end of the shift. The student nurse stayed with her patient while the assigned nurse and when the STAT team arrived. The patient asked for the student nurse to remain in the room while the team was obtaining labs and X-rays. The student was very concerned about her patient and when she was leaving for the day not only did the patient thank her for all she had done but the father was extremely thankful for all the care Hannine provided that day.
