As a parent, you never want to get a phone call that your child has had something bad happen to them; that they were hurt on the playground, bullied, or traumatized in any way. A few months ago, when I picked up my children from school, I did receive the news that one of my children had been involved in an incident. My 5-year-old, in Kindergarten, was assaulted in the bathroom. I had hundreds of emotions and questions racing through my mind, and my child sitting in my lap crying saying he just wanted to go home. It is heartbreaking to see your 5-year-old terrified and fearful. Feelings of complete helplessness, anger, sadness, and pain consumed me as a parent.
Gessica was extremely helpful during this time and was great with my son. She explained everything that was going to happen in great detail prior to starting the exam, and she spoke with my son on his level. Gessica took her time and answered every question, and she followed up with me. She was very compassionate and offered support to my son and me. Gessica is a wonderful patient advocate, and she truly cares about her patients and their families. I know Gessica was just doing her job, but I want her to know that she means the world to us. I will forever be grateful for Gessica and the care that she provided for my son.
