The ARCH nurse program is new to the VNA. The nurse assists Harm Reduction Center with their clients for wound care, Hep C testing, pregnancy testing, referrals, Narcan, and a host of other things. This gives you a preview of the important role Gershon came into. PRN didn't know at that time the gift they were about to receive. Gershon came in confidently setting up and going to training without a hiccup. Never a question. Gershon and I began to work in the new LGBTQ clinic in our Asbury Park CHC doing STDs, rapid HIV testing, and syphilis. Gershon has an M.D. in his future if he continues embracing life this way. Gershon always shows professionalism no matter how bad of results it is for him to give. Gershon is in his twenties has his BSN, still helps in the hospitals, and works split shifts to cover the clinic. All of Gershon's clients love him. They feel comfortable in his care. Also, working with such a strong leader has helped me to want more out of life. He shows up early to his shift and makes sure every client gets the same treatment. He is an asset to the VNA. Gershon puts the best foot forward and is exactly what we want in our company.
Gershon had a client who came to him for STD screening through that Gershon was able to get the client to get HIV and syphilis testing. Upon the client recommend returned Gershon noticed they didn't complete his recommended referrals, he talked with the client assertively and helped him see testing isn't prevention. Gershon assisted the client with PrEP Counselor and appointment for the doctor to get on PrEP. Gershon then followed up with the client upon completion of the doctor's visit to see how meds were working. I am writing about one client, however, there are many. Gershon enjoys his work with what seems like ease.
Note: This is Gershon's 2nd DAISY Award!
