Gail establishes a special connection daily through diabetes education with our outpatients. Because of the resourcefulness and reassurance, she offers patients, she helps them through stressful and difficult times. She is passionate about making a difference in all the lives of her patients. She has cared for many patients with breast cancer over the years and the women keep in touch with her.
Gail shows empathy and is a role model for the nursing profession. She generates enthusiasm and energy toward meeting the challenges of nursing. She is kind, caring, giving, and thinks outside the box. She finds new solutions with fresh eyes and has improved our department's efficiency. She exhibits excellent interpersonal skills.
Gail volunteered at the Food Pantry for people with diabetes and prediabetes over the summer. She sorted food, helped pack groceries, shared resources with the attendees, and celebrated their successes when their blood sugars improved and their Hemoglobin A 1 C's. One of the attendees, who was homeless, shared that his bike had been stolen that morning. Gail offered to give him a bike she had at home.
Gail exemplifies the essence of professional nursing in all activities. Patient care always comes first. She steps up whenever help is needed, coming in early, staying late, helping check people in, arranging for early or late appointments for us to see to meet the needs of the patients and families we serve. She thought up a beautiful idea "The 12 Days of Caring" incorporating Reigniting the Spirit of Caring with nursing and caring as our theme.
