Gail is wonderful, she is thoughtful and caring, she helps me when I have questions or concerns.
In late January 2020, my husband was being prepped for prostate cancer surgery at the Broadway Sanford Hospital, while I sneaked over to the Sanford Breast Clinic for a mammogram. I had been complaining about a certain spot on my breast for some time but they kept telling me it was nothing. Finally, two days before my husband's cancer surgery, I leaned over and felt an awful pain in my breast. I immediately contacted Sanford and said I'd be in town two days later while he has surgery, and I must have this location checked yet again. They worked me right in which was good--considering we were going to be two newly diagnosed cases of cancer at the beginning of a pandemic. While my husband was convalescing in the hospital, I found out I had breast cancer.

After J returned home, we waited for an appointment with Dr. P, who became my "new best friend." That said, when chemo was over and I needed plastic surgery for reconstruction, Gail became very important to me. The office I called scheduled surgery in a much longer timeframe than I thought was advisable (it was Triple Negative Breast Cancer) so when I put in a note in to Sanford Plastics that I wanted to be seen ASAP (because with TNBC time was of the essence) Gail stepped up and moved heaven and earth to get surgery rescheduled earlier. The doctors worked together and got rid of the cancer and started reconstruction which is extraordinary, but it was Gail who made it all happen.

Not to be overly dramatic, but she quite literally saved my life. Even delaying treatment of TNBC for a couple of weeks can result in worse outcomes, which I don't even want to consider. Gail makes sure all T's are crossed and I's dotted, she held my hand for every tissue expander treatment, she helped me with the insurance process making sure all pre-authorizations were taken care of, she made sure I knew what to expect from each treatment, and of course, she works well with the doctor and keeps all of us on track. Gail is wonderful, she is thoughtful and caring, she helps me when I have questions or concerns either via phone, Mysanfordchart, or in person, and quite frankly, Sanford is lucky to have her. I am proud to call her among my care team. She is a true DAISY Nurse as a Sentry, Healer, Guide, Teacher, Collaborator, and Leader.
