Fraya arrived and worked her magic. She created beautiful, meaningful scenes with the parents, newborn, and their 4 other children. She carefully bathed the baby, and wrapped him in his newborn gown and blanket. Most importantly, she comforted this family in their greatest time of need.
Fraya is an integral member of our Labor and Delivery team. Fraya is a natural leader and staff resource. Whether she is Charge nurse, OR Circulator, Triage, or Labor nurse, you can be assured that Fraya is advocating for the safety of her patients and staff.

When Fraya isn't working as a labor and delivery nurse, she can be found honing her professional photography skills, often in the setting of her beautiful garden and farm. Two years ago, Fraya partnered with Now I Lay Me Down to Sleep, a network of professional photographers who provide photography sessions to grieving families who have experienced the loss of their baby. This service is completely free of charge to the family, and Fraya donates not only her time for the photo session, but also hours of her time editing the pictures and giving the gift of healing and comfort to these bereaved families.

Recently, Fraya was at home, enjoying an afternoon on her farm with her husband. They had plans to go out and celebrate their anniversary that evening. Meanwhile, back at the hospital, Labor and Delivery had experienced a very difficult, very unexpected, and very tragic death of a newborn baby boy. The family, understandably, was devastated. Their 4 other children came to the hospital to say goodbye to the baby brother they never had a chance to know. I called Fraya at home. I apologized for the inconvenience and asked if there was any way she could find the time to take pictures for this family. Without hesitation, her response was "I can be there in 20 minutes. Have the room ready." Fraya arrived and worked her magic. She created beautiful, meaningful scenes with the parents, newborn, and their 4 other children. She carefully bathed the baby, and wrapped him in his newborn gown and blanket. Most importantly, she comforted this family in their greatest time of need. Fraya spent over 3 hours with this family, putting their needs ahead of her own. She was able to provide them with priceless mementos of their son that can never be replaced.

Fraya has the constant ability to bond with her patients. Whether they are having a rough day, arriving for a scheduled procedure, or anything in between, Fraya can put their mind at ease and assure them they are in competent hands. Fraya goes above and beyond in all roles, serving as a preceptor, working on completing her BSN, maintaining her national competency, and obtaining her APEX year after year. We, and our patients, are so lucky to have Fraya on our team!
