No other doctor or nurse had noticed the obscure pattern of symptoms or had regarded it as warranting further investigation, but Faith did and brought it to my attention.
I have now worked with Faith for just over a month on day shifts and night shifts. And I can categorically say that I have not met any other healthcare professional in the NHS with as much motivation and drive as Faith to do right by her patients. She flagged up a medical intervention that saved a patient’s life. No other doctor or nurse had noticed the obscure pattern of symptoms or had regarded it as warranting further investigation, but Faith did and brought it to my attention.

I had flagged this case up at the end of life shift, but I do not believe that Faith was acknowledged for her part in this situation. I do believe it is important to recognise and acknowledge her professionalism as she only graduated less than a year ago. I couldn’t believe that such a well-integrated and knowledgeable healthcare professional graduated so recently, especially as her work is to the standard of a nurse with significantly more experience.

This is just another testament to Faith's charter. She noted to me today that even though it has become more challenging to be a nurse recently, both professionally and individually, she is even more determined to do right by her patients and help other nurses provide supportive care to their patients. The challenge makes her even more driven and more focused on her organisation.
