A nurse's devotion to care often extends beyond the bedside. Estela's call to provide and care for her patients is amazing, her care beyond her patients is just as amazing. Near the close of our 12 hour day, an employee came in for his overnight shift appearing to be unwell. As soon as she was notified by another employee Estela jumped into action. First, she made sure he was not in immediate danger and then that he was protected for the remainder of the evening.
After the employee stated he was under the care of a provider and did not want to be sent to the ER. It was in the best interest of the employee to head home instead of completing his shift. Without a second thought, Estela immediately told him she would drive him home. This action went beyond anything her job asked of her, this was a selfless act of true compassion for another human. She ensured the employee arrived home safely, had his car at his home, and did not leave his side until a family member was able to take over as a caregiver. Estela's selflessness went beyond her job requirements and displayed true compassion.
