My dad was unexpectedly hospitalized last winter with a very serious disease. You can imagine how terrifying this experience has been for both him and our family. Nurses like Erin have made all the difference in the world for our collective comfort.
My first interaction with Erin was actually on a day when she wasn't his assigned nurse. My dad had asked for help so I went to notify Erin with the hope that she'd notify his assigned nurse. Instead, Erin stepped in to help him herself and stuck around for several minutes until she could confirm that he was comfortable.
The next morning we were all so excited that she was his nurse! That entire day she was extraordinary with him and with us, his family. Even though Erin had at least one other patient, she made us feel like her top priority. She never rushed my dad's comfort. His words were "she is very attentive and patient".
I, as his daughter, couldn't feel more grateful for the care Erin gave my dad and our family during a really scary, foreign time. She told him that she can't wait for the day that he walks himself into the ICU to visit her so that they can cry in victory together. That speaks to her encouraging, optimistic, compassionate heart. She's become a friend and light in this trying time. We wish we could thank her more. For now, Erin you are extraordinary. We love you and are thankful for you.
