Erin jumped into ACTION! One evening, Erin was leaving work when she noticed a security guard on the phone standing next to a car parked in the handicap spot. Instead of just walking on by to get to her car and go home, she noticed there was a woman inside, slumped over the driver's seat with her glucose monitor alarming. As she always does, Erin put on her Rapid Response hat and immediately jumped into action, knocking on the car window and talking to get the woman's attention. The woman was minimally responding, so Erin attempted to open any car door, but they were all locked. She then ran back into the building to get help from the OR/SDU team. The team immediately responded and was able to break a window to get the car unlocked, and the woman safely on the gurney. They whisked her to the ED, where she was found to have a blood sugar of less the 20! The patient was treated and released from the Emergency Department hours later. Without Erin's quick response, this scenario would have had a tragic outcome. This is just one example of Erin's compassionate care, critical thinking skills, and extraordinary clinical excellence. And even though she has been in the manager role, she is always a Nurse first. Erin was assisted by eight of the most awesome OR/SDU team members too!
