Liz Van Alstine is an amazingly compassionate, intelligent, and hardworking nurse. She is helpful to all of her colleagues and supportive of all of her patients' and patient family needs. Recently, she was a primary nurse for a patient who died in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit. She had the hard task of being the primary nurse for a patient who would likely die due to respiratory failure. She took impeccable care of this patient. She frequently bathed and dressed the patient while always managing to keep her bed beautifully decorated. She provided top-notch nursing care to the patient, but what makes her most deserving of this award is the care she took of the family. She knew all of their names, including the siblings. She loved them and they loved her. They requested her because of the exceptional care she gave them on a previous admission. She was so excellent, they couldn't forget her. The family frequently expressed their adoration of her for her amazing care. Liz was thankfully there for the patient's final day. She gave her her final bath with lavender and coconut scents that could be smelled from outside the room. The family was so thankful for the time and support in her final hours and throughout her whole stay. Liz is a truly amazing nurse and an even better person. She absolutely deserves a DAISY Award!
