Libby is everything that a nurse should be, caring, compassionate, with amazing bedside manner.
After being in labor all day long, Libby came on that evening with all of us expecting to deliver my baby within just a few hours. The hours that ensued were busy, stressful, and exhausting to say the least. While continuing to labor, Libby had constant positive feedback for me and never left my side. If I became uncomfortable, she had immediate suggestions about what I could try next to be more comfortable, as well as, how my husband could support me. Libby made it clear that we were all working as a team and we immediately trusted her leadership. After four hours of pushing and finding out I needed a c-section, Libby continued to be right there with us explaining everything and keeping us calm. Her confident, strong demeanor got us through the night.
During post-op, Libby was extremely attentive to my needs and explained everything very clearly. She quickly got my baby to me and helped me have skin-to-skin time as well as nursing. When nursing was proving stressful, she quickly helped with hand expression - allowing the baby to feed using a syringe and providing us with positive bonding time. During post-op, it dawned on me that Libby stayed with me every single minute of her shift except for a bathroom break. We were so sad to leave her as she brought us over to Maternity.
Libby is everything that a nurse should be, caring, compassionate, with amazing bedside manner. She is a leader who takes charge in difficult situations and is not afraid to stand up for her patients' needs or desires. My husband and I were shocked to find out how young Libby is, she has the knowledge and expertise that you would expect from someone with 30 years of experience. Libby made a very scary night into a positive experience for our whole family.
Thank you, Libby!!
