I just felt so special, and this birthing experience was the most beautiful experience of my life due to Debbie and the staff in general.
I arrived to Labor and Delivery at 39 + 4 weeks pregnant due to my water breaking naturally at home. This is my second pregnancy and I was definitely much more anxious going into this my second time because I’m just more aware of all the things that can go wrong in a blink of an eye. When I arrived, all I wanted was peace and I truly couldn’t find that — it was honestly ruining my entire experience. I remember a midwife came into the triage room to comfort me and tell me that God created us to be able to birth any size of a baby that we create inside our womb (I was terrified I was going to have a big baby and need an emergency C-Section). The midwife made me feel a bit better but it wasn’t until I got admitted into my room and met my wonderful nurse DEBBIE!!!

Debbie has this motherly, nurturing, and loving touch to her — she made me feel so safe the entire time I was there. She respected ALL of my medical decisions for my baby as well as followed my birth plan. Even though I know she might not have agreed with everything I chose for the after-birth care of my newborn, I saw that she truly respected my and my husband's decisions, and she advocated for me. Debbie carries herself so well and is very sweet, and not only that, but she does her job so confidently! Because of Debbie, I had the most beautiful birthing experience, and I will never forget how she went out of her way to make me this special yummy drink that she swears by!! Also, the way she took care of me postpartum was with so much gentleness and reassurance. I did have a huge baby (just like I thought I would), 10 pounds and 6 ounces!!! I pushed her out in 10 minutes with ZERO tears, and Debbie was SO proud of me. The entire time, she kept telling me how amazing I was and how I had done such a great job. She went out of her way to make sure all the nurses acknowledged me because I gave birth to a big baby, and that’s not always easy, especially with ZERO perineal tears. I just felt so special, and this birthing experience was the most beautiful experience of my life due to Debbie and the staff in general. When Debbie took me to my postpartum/ recovery room, I was genuinely sad to be getting assigned a new nurse. I connected so well with Debbie.

I will always recommend Kaiser to my friends and family, who are expected due to the wonderful care that was provided to me. Please acknowledge Debbie — she deserves this so much. It’s not an every day thing where you see compassionate nurses do their job perfectly and with passion. I saw it in Debbie. If we had more Debbies in Labor & Delivery — I believe that mothers who come in super anxious like I was would definitely have a smooth sailing experience. A lot of the time, it’s our anxiety and tension that creates longer labor and complications. A kind nurse makes a huge DIFFERENCE. Thank you Debbie
