After he passed Daria gave them each all his fingerprint on paper so they would have it forever.
I would like to nominate Daria for going above and beyond for an end-of-life covid ecmo patient and his family. Her patient was in his 50s and had a wife and three daughters in their 20s. On the day they were withdrawing care, Daria let them spend extra time with him. His girls wanted to pamper him a little bit in his final hours of life so Daria gave them her own nail file so they could file his nails and some hand lotion. Once they decided it was time to let him go, Daria printed one last telemetry strip with his heart rhythm on it because his daughters wanted to get his rhythm tattooed on them. After he passed Daria gave them each all his fingerprint on paper so they would have it forever. This may seem like a small gesture but to this family, it meant so much. This is only one example of the many things I’ve seen Daria do over the past nine years that I've worked with her that makes a difference in her patients' and their loved ones' lives.
